NOT a Pintrest mom

I am not crafty...like AT ALL. And most of the time it doesn't bother me, but sometimes it's very frustrating. My son is very low maintenance, but this year he wants a Beauty and the Beast party. First off, fuck society for thinking that only GIRLS can enjoy Beauty and the Beast. I couldn't find any even gender neutral invites. It was very frustating. And usually I don't give a shit, but since I was handing these out at school, I did. He gets picked on enough for his choices, I didn't need to add fuel to the fire by sending in glitter and pink and princessey invites. Thanks to my awesome (Very crafty) friend, I was able to get some really cute custom invites made.

So now cue the panic that I suck at being crafty and my son's party is going to suck. The only thing working to my advantage is this is at a public place and we are renting a room, so there is only so much I can do. B/c as awesome as something like this is, yeah...that would never happen.

If I can get over the decoration part, next comes cupcakes and or cake. Which, my son doesn't even like....so I don't know why every year I obsess over this. My dad is an awesome cake decorator but he doesn't live in town and doesn't make it to his parties. Last year I had a friend make them and they were absolutely stunning. Buuuut this year my son didn't want to invite her kids. Talk about awkward....oh hey, I know you're not invited to the party but can you make cupcakes again....? I hate they way grocery store icing taste, and I can't decorate for shit. I saw these rice krispie treats and thought yeah I could totaly drizzle some shit on those, and fake the flowers. But then I rememered I can't even make rice krispie treats....WHO CAN'T HANDLE MAKING RICE KRISPIE TREATS?!?! Me. That's who. How cute are those little clock cakes though?!

Next would come favor bags. Which honestly, I've never really done before b/c I think they are a waste of money. But apparently they are a thing....so I'll do them this year. I thought of something really cute to put in the bags would be a bookmark, since you know Belle loves reading....and I would have my son decorate the bookmarks. But what else should I put in? And of course, these bags are super cute, but never in a million years could I pull it off.

I know in the end my son doesn't care about any of this, and I will still a huge hug and a thank you from him after the party. He will tell me I'm the best mommy ever and it was the best party ever. So even though I think the party sucked b/c I'm not a pintrest mom, he will still love it and that should be the only thing that matters.
