Prompt

My first concert was Hanson. More specifically, thanks to google, it was July 2nd, 1998, at the Nissan Pavilion. In middle school, I was freaking OBSESSED with Hanson. I wore a Hanson shirt everyday, my part of the room was covered in Hanson posters, I braided my hair for Zach's birthday, and my  mom would let me stay home from school sometimes if they were going to be on a talk show (since these were pre-dvr days).  I was made fun of constantly for liking them but I really didn't care. Everyone like Nsync amd Bsb, I really didn't see the difference. But I had my few friends who also liked them, or at least tolerated my obsession, and I was fine with that.

My mom bought me concert tickets, and I went with her and 2 of my friends. We had lawn seats, and my dad let me borrow his very expensive, fancy binoculars so I could see the stage so well!! Decked out in Hanson gear, with our hair braided, we had a great time. I'm kinda sad this was before good cameras were an every day thing, so I have no pictures.

BUT! For my birthday, my son's dad bought me concert tickets to see them in September!! I didn't even know they were touring, but I guess he knows someone who works at the venue and he got me tickets before they even went on sale officially. This time they are just at a little coffee house so I will be SO close!! And I'm going with my best friend who should have gone with me in '98 but for some reason last minute couldn't go.   I'm very excited, it's a little out of town so we will get a hotel for the night and it's going to be great!!

Prompt

The prompts in my blog group this month were such good ones! And I didn't do a single one of them....So, now that the month is almost over I want to play catch up!

Prompt: Summer reading list

I didn't make a specific summer reading list, but these are/ were on my top to read list!

I've read a couple of Tarryn's books and although I am not a *huge* fan of hers, Colleen Hoover is her best friend and she's one of my favorites. For my reading challange, I have to read a book suggested by an author I love so this is the one I have picked out.

Friday Reads!

I haven't posted a Friday Reads in awhile, but this week I am really excited about the books I am reading. YA is my go to favorite genre, but my absolute favorite is suspense, murder mystery. I usually have 2 books I'm reading at a time b/c one is an audio book for work and then I will sometimes have a book book to read.

The first book is a book my mom bought me a few weeks ago and I've been waiting till I have a couple days off in a row to binge read it. It's written by the same author who wrote "Girl on the Train" and I loved that book! And, actually the movie too.

The other is an audio book, a book I've been dying to read, but it wasn't available in audio so it was just sitting on my kindle. The audio became available the other day!! I started it last night at work and it's just as good as I wanted it to be!

Regrets

I had intentions of writing something else today, something positive b/c that's what I want this blog to be, but after getting news about my jeep I can't.

At 31 I wanted my life to be much different. Growing up, I wanted a whole different life than what I ended up with. I wanted a good job, a husband who loves me, 2 kids, the pets, the picket fence, all of it. Instead I work 2 shitty jobs, 1 kid, no husband, completely single, a dumb apartment. The only thing I have accomplished is the animals.

I try really hard not to regret how my life turned out, b/c what does a regret accomplish? Nothing. but sometimes, like today, it's hard. Why did I let people discourage me from going to Va Tech? Why did I give up so easily? Why didn't I take that negativity and use it to prove them wrong? I told my parents I wanted to take a year off after school like a lot of students do, but then I just never went back. Why? Well, b/c I let more people tell me I was too stupid to go.  And when I finally wanted to go back, it was a lot harder and took a lot more will power and I gave up on that too. Now my son keeps asking what I want to be when I grow up to which I have no answer, he tells me he doesn't want to go to college b/c I didn't. I'm drowning in money problems, which I know everyone does, however it doesn't keep me from thinking that if I had gone to college it wouldn't be so bad. My car needs work to have a working a.c. which I deem a necessity when I have a kid in the car. I'm aware that's it not really, but for me it is. I'm now too worried to take my kid to see my dad, or to the amusement park we have passes to b/c that's an hour away. And after walking around a park all day, who wants to get in a car with no a.c., to drive an hour back home. Again, something that wouldn't necessarily be fixed b/c I went to college b/c who has a grand just laying around (okay, actually probably a lot of people but not the point), but it would be nice if it was okay, I can deal with this for 2 weeks until I get a little more money, but now its well fuck, it's going to be a hot summer. I'm behind on EVERY bill, and I am trying to save for Disney in 4 months.

There is no light at the end of the tunnel.

Summer Vacation!!

Summer vacation is here!

I can't believe the kids have been out of school for a week now! Since I only work part-time during the day, we've had lots of time to do fun stuff.
Started our summer vacation having lunch with Auntie Klein
Followed by a nap. 1st grade is hard work!!

The weekend was full of water parks! First, a local one with friends, and then Kings Dominion.
First *official* day of summer vacation was kicked off with a water balloon fight!

I think this was one of my favorite! Tuesday was the first $1 kids movie followed my Putt-Putt with police officers!
Of course, have to find time for kitty cuddles

Saturday, we went to a touch truck downtown with Grandma and he had a blast!
Saturday night we brought our dog over to the house we will be house sitting at and he loved the dog! We spent the night hanging out with friends, eating pizza and watching the dogs play.

I think we've had a pretty good first week, and if the rest of the summer is anything like it, it'll be a great summer 💓

Kindle Unlimited

About 4 years ago, when I got back into reading I was about to move out of state. I had barley any books of my own and wasn't sure how I was going to keep up reading. That's when I found out about Kindle app for my phone. I'm aware I was way behind on the trend, but better late than never, right? After we moved, I wasn't working and I could only read the free books as we didn't have money for me to buy any. I read some really great books that I probably wouldn't have read otherwise. But the real deal came when I signed up for kindle unlimited 2 years ago. I had gotten a kindle tablet for Christmas, and decided that paying for a reading service was worth it by now. On top of TONS of free books, you can also listen to audio books free too. Which works out really well for me b/c I work overnight and can listen to books while I'm working. Last year (and this year) I read some AMAZING books through Kindle Unlimited and wanted to share them with you guys!

#1 has to be probably one of the best books I read all year honestly. And part of the cover will go in my book tattoo sleeve.
"The trail of broken wings" by:  Sejal Badani AMAZING AMAZING BOOK I highly recommend this to everyone and anyone.

#2 "The language of Hoofbeats" by: Catherine Hyde

#3 The "Paper Magician" series. There are 3 books in the series and all 3 are free.

#4 "Bulletproof" by" Maci Bookout. You can laugh if you want, but this star of teen mom wrote an amazing book. I could relate to her story so much and this title will also make it into my tattoo sleeve.

#5 "1984" by: George Orwell. Again, I know I am late to the train, but I'm glad I finally read it.

#6 The "Breathing" Series. All 3 books are free on KU

#7 "Fractured" by: Catherine McKeinze. There are a few books of hers on KU, but so far this is my favorite.

KU is $10 a month, and it's the best $10 I spend every month.

Prompt day

The prompt in my blog group this week was favorite pizza toppings. I thought this would be a hard prompt so I put it off, but actually after I thought about it, it really was easy! My go to favorite would have to be Spinach, mushroom and feta with white sauce. There is a restaurant in my hometown that has a pizza with ranch sauce, pineapple, chicken and bacon (which sadly I can't eat bacon anymore) that I love! But I think that's the only place I've ever seen it. I work at Whole Foods and they have some good combos too, but I have to say, besides the boring and ordinary cheese, this one has to be my favorite. And, actually, my sons too!! He is a very picky eater, but he does love a good spinach pizza.

Spotlight Saturday

I spent my kid free Saturday shopping for planner stickers and then (of course) playing with my planner. I went so long without having any real hobbies, that it's really nice to have something to get excited about again. Even if it's as small as some $2 stickers for my planner.

May book Wrap-up

I know this is late, but I swear I wrote this in May, the website glitched and deleted the entry when I went to post it. But better late than never, right?

So, I ended the month out on 6 books. I am proud of this b/c last year May was the month where I hit my slump. I read for Dewey's and then maybe a book or 2 after that until November. I'm hoping I can keep my motivation over the summer and hit my reading goal for the year!

⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book sparked my interest b/c it was advertised to be as good as "Girl on the Train" which I loved. I did enjoy this, however, it wasn't on "Girl on the Train" level in my opinion.
